About the role

Our Sydney reconstruction and insolvency team is currently seeking a driven and career-focused Senior Accountant to assist with our diverse range of clients. This role is best suited to a proactive individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment.

The focus of the position will involve:

  • Working in our corporate insolvency and reconstruction team on appointments such as voluntary administrations, receiverships, deeds of company arrangement, creditors’ trusts and liquidations
  • Having carriage of a portfolio of small to medium sized assignments under supervision
  • Conducting investigations and attending to the necessary statutory reporting
  • Recovering and selling businesses and assets
  • Litigation support for a range of matters
  • Liaising with creditors and all stakeholders involved in various administrations
  • Working as part of a team on a variety of cases

Desired skills and experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • 1 to 4 years experience working in corporate insolvency and reconstruction
  • Capable of running small to medium assignments with supervision, reporting to management and the appointees
  • Graduate with a major in accounting
  • Completing or completion of the CA or CPA programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid accounting and financial analysis skills
  • Comfortable with MS Office
  • Can do attitude
  • Team player

Supervisor

Our reconstruction and insolvency team is currently recruiting a highly skilled 'hands on' Supervisor who can also mentor and assist with the supervision of junior accountants.

About the role

This role will require you to have the necessary experience and expertise to actively manage accounting assignments involving:

  • Financial reviews
  • Transactional reviews and tracing
  • Solvency reviews
  • Court liquidations, voluntary administrations, creditors' voluntary liquidations, deeds of company arrangement and receiverships

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • All types of corporate restructuring and insolvency appointments, including a focus on financial services, property and retail operations in the mid-market
  • Working closely with senior management and responsible for supervising/managing aspects of an engagement – ideally, you will have the proven ability to manage engagements autonomously
  • Mentoring and assisting with the supervision of junior staff

Desired skills and experience

The right candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary degree
  • CA qualification (or close to completion)
  • 3+ years' experience in corporate insolvency experience
  • Excellent report writing and Excel skills
  • Superior verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional time management and project management skills
  • Great analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Proven experience in undertaking and interpreting complex financial analysis and drafting detailed reports to all stakeholders
